The IRS2053M 200 V driver IC for use in Class D Audio driver IC will improve home theater performance and is small enough to add to car audio amplifies to provide higher quality sound. The new chip is manufactured by International Rectifier, a world leader in power management technology.

Based on Class D audio amplifier topology, the device provides three channel high performance half-bridge drivers with PWM modulators and high voltage capability. It also has programmable bi-directional current sensing features to protect both the low and high side MOSFETS from excessive current as well as logic controlled input with floating PWM input.

The new device features:

  • Excellent sound quality
  • Smaller footprint
  • High efficiency power MOSFETs
  • Output from 50W to 150W

These new devices are only $5.60 which is a very reasonable price that can make new devices smaller or provide better quality to existing devices that its predecessor was too large to accommodate.

What that means for most people is that their portable devices will use less power which extends battery life and for wired components, will produce less heat which causes less thermal stress on circuit boards extending their life.
