Lenovo is most popular for their ThinkPad and ThinkCentre computers, but despite the sleek design of the devices, Lenovo has never been to the top of the technological market. But even with the PC world\u2019s sales dwindling down, Lenovo is expected to surpass HP to take the number one spot within the year.<\/p>\n
The company has been slowly gaining sales over time and was able to take the second place spot from computer maker Dell at the end of 2011. With only a small gap remaining between the second and first positions of companies with most sales, it makes you wonder what Lenovo has that others don\u2019t. Lenovo has been around since 1984, so why are they brining in so many sales now?<\/p>\n
It seems as though Lenovo has a specific style to their computers where other brands pretty much look and feel the same. They also appear to listen to their consumers and give customers what they want. Constantly redesigning the look and feel of the keyboard, screen and mouse to fit their consumer\u2019s needs is apparently helping sales. However, the most important specifications within a computer don\u2019t have much to do with how it looks \u2013 you need to know how it works.<\/p>\n
But it seems as though Lenovo may also have the upper hand in the way their devices are built. HP\u2019s new Envy Sleekbook 6 includes an AMD A-series processor and a Radeon HD 7500G graphics card while Lenovo\u2019s new IdeaPad comes with a faster Intel Processor and a faster NVIDIA GForce 610M graphics card. The starting prices for these two computers are approximately within $10 of each other with the Lenovo being the cheaper of the two!<\/p>\n
So it seems as Lenovo may continue to make sales and gain on HP. But even if Lenovo does take the top spot, I wonder how much that really matters anymore? While it would take decades and a major change to make the PC obsolete, it seems as though more consumers are switching shifts and concentrating on devices that provide more mobility, such as tablets and smart phones.
