However there are several things you can do to improve the performance of a fresh installation of Windows 7.<br \/>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Drivers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make sure you install the latest versions of your hardware drivers. The most important are the motherboard drivers, followed by the video card and sound drivers. While you should be ale to get current drivers for most hardware, if, for some reason no windows 7 drivers are available, try installing Vista drivers instead because sometimes they will work. Whatever you do, do not use the windows updater.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has serious problems with supplying incompatible drivers. I don\u2019t know if the problem is Microsoft or the fact that the manufacturers are not providing Microsoft with the latest drivers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paging File<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you machine has either multiple partitions of more than one hard drive, move the paging file to any partition or drive except the c:\\ drive by performing the following steps:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Go to: Control Panel -&gt; System.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Click Advanced System Settings -&gt; Advanced tab.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Click the Settings button under the Performance category.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select \u00a0the Advanced tab. Finally, click Change.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Uncheck the box labeled automatically manage paging file size for all drives.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select C: from the Drive box and switch it to the No paging file option.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select a different hard drive and choose System managed size.<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Click OK and restart your computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mouse Over<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To speed things up<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Type regedit in the search box and open the registry editor.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then expand the Control Panel Folder<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Open the Desktop folder<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the right hand pane select the MenuShowDisplay entry<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Change the default value from 400 to 10 to make the menus appear sooner<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Next click on the Mouse folder<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select MouseHoverTime and change the default to 10<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Close the registry editor and reboot the machine<\/p>\n<p><strong>TSRs (Terminate and stay resident programs)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TSRs are applications that are loaded into memory at startup and consume system resources which can reduce performance.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Type msconfig into the search box and then open the application from the menu.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Select the startup tab<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Uncheck both the iTunes and Quick Time items (These apps will start if you actually use either program and don\u2019t need to be loaded into memory all of the time)<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You can uncheck other programs if you want but make sure you know what the programs actually do.<\/p>\n<p>If you follow these steps, you will have better system performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>speed up windows 7<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8,1],"tags":[160],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/808"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=808"}],"version-history":[{"count":14,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/808\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1219,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/808\/revisions\/1219"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=808"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=808"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.easydriverpro.com\/driver-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=808"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
