Affordable Intel Core i3 Notebook

Finally someone has offered an Intel core processor in a notebook priced under $600. In the past all of the notebooks in this price range have been powered by lightweight processors like Intel Celerons, Pentium Dual Cores, AMD Athlons and Turions. While great for surfing the web, these processors have a noticeable lg time when running business applications. No so for the Intel Core i3.

This process may be the entry level for the heavy duty Intel Core i series processors but it will let you run business productivity applications and even stream HD video. This new Acer 5742-372G32Mnhas the following components:

  • 2.4GHz Core i3 370M processor
  • 15.6in widescreen with 1366×768 resolution
  • A fast DVD burner
  • Three USB port
  • A 2-in-1 card reader for your camera cards
  • An HDMI port to connect to your HDTV and play HD movies directly from your laptop
  • Wireless N networking
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 320GB disk drive

All of this makes the Acer notebook a good little workhorse for most people’s computing needs. It can easily run Microsoft Office applications, windows 7 home or Photoshop with ease. However because this notebook only has 2 GB of RAM, you will experience delays if you try to run several of these memory and processor intensive applications simultaneously.

But all you need to do is invest another $100 to $200 dollars and you can get 4GB of Ram and either a larger hard disk or even an Intel Core i5 processor.

The bottom line is that the Acer 5742-372G32Mn notebook is an excellent choice if you want a notebook with a good processor that can do real business work and is priced reasonably.
