New ATI Catalyst driver update

As promised, AMD has been releasing monthly driver updates for its ATI Catalyst video cards. The latest version released last week is 10.9.

These new drivers are providing an upgrade to the 3D graphics that 10.7 brought to the gaming world and now offer full support for OpenGL ES 2.0. In addition to the upgrade, this new driver release has been designed to also provide a glitch in the old drivers that impacted the extremely popular StarCraftII video game. The new driver suite offers a Catalyst Control Center to help the users tweak the video card to fix any problems they might experience.

The ATI Eyefinity coupled with an ATI Quad CrossfireX setup will provide the highest quality video gaming graphics available. These new drivers provided a 5% improvement for Left 4 Dead 2, a 6% improvement for Far Cry 2 and a whopping 10% improvement for Stormrise in test conducted by AMD.

Way to go guys!

The new driver suite can also fix some of the ore bothersome driver issues with the Microsoft operating systems windows 7, XP and vista.

With all the rumors that AMD is going to discontinue using the ATI brand name, I wonder if this will be the last announcement of ATI Catalyst driver updates. Only time will tell.
