AMD has introduced it new ATI FirePro 3D graphics drivers.

Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp who are the manufacturers of the SolidWorks software suite for design and engineering, has certified that the entire family of AMD ATI FirePro professional graphics drivers support SolidWorks 2010 on Windows 7.1. In fact, the latest version of SolidWorks has been optimized to work with ATI FirePro professional graphics and Windows 7.1.

In addition to SolidWorks, the new drivers improve performance with Autodesk, 3D Max and PTC ProENGINEER. This more than 20% improvement in performance is accomplished by the company marrying its ATI OpenGl with its ATI FireTGL technology and now Photoshop can get up to 102-bits per color rendering with these new drivers. That means they can provide exact color representation.

In addition, the new drivers support passive, auto stereoscopic displays and blue-line stereo for 3D glasses synchronization. They can also support Dolby 5.1 and 5.1 DTS surround sound, 8 and 2 channel uncompressed audio and on the high end ATIFirePro cards, Display Port audio is available.

AMD has promised to make bi-monthly updates available.

Summary

AMD … Way to go! It’s about time the same capabilities available to game developers were made available to professional graphics applications.
