Pebble Bay has released a new USB card reader drivers that can interface with PCs used with LiDCO, Ltd.’s latest haemodynamic monitoring systems. Pebble Bay, a leader in the development of embedded systems, has been providing software development to let the LiDCO equipment use a wider range of card readers.

The lidco device is based on PC compatible hardware that is using a new USB-interfaced card reader, letting the company adopt a standard protocol and software component to provide the interface to the card readers. LiDCO chose to adopt the Personal Computer/Smart Card specification, and needed to port the existing PC/SC-Lite software to use the USB interface which was tested, followed by delivery and acceptance at LiDCO’s office in London.

Pebble Bay’s new drivers allow a much wider choice in card readers without having to make any major changes to the application software.

According to  Ian Willat, Managing Director of Pebble Bay,  “I am very pleased to report that this project ran very smoothly. There were some technical challenges associated with the way the USB bus was enumerated and the devices configured. However, our in-depth expertise of USB protocols and device drivers allowed us to solve these quickly and without slowing down the project.”
