WHDI Stick Brings Convenient Wireless HD to any Device!

Finally a way to get wireless HD connectivity to your HDTV that doesn’t cost a fortune or require bulky devices that attach to the television.

Amimon’s WHDO stick has a 3GB per second wireless transmission using the unlicensed 5 GHz transmission band. It uses a dual port system and an HDMI receiving device that hooks up directly to the TV. The device provides a full 1080p resolution image transmitted wirelessly from your PC, notebook or tablet.

The most impressive part it that it can work with windows, Linux and the MAC operating systems because it uses a standard USB port to power the device and transmits through the HMDI port. Even more impressive is the small size of the stick. It is a mere 3.2 x 1.18 x 0.61 inches. Because most of the work is done with hardware, there is only one millisecond of latency. The WHDI Stick is based on AMIMON’s AMN2120 WHDI Tx IC technology. The device is both HMDI compliant and can support 3D as well.

According to Uri Kanonich, senior director of product management, “Ours is the only technology that can enable such a small adapter that allows consumers to view and experience all of their PC content on their TV with perfect picture quality and no latency and our WHDI Stick is offering high image quality, low latency, low power consumption, and low cost in one compact design.”

I can’t wait until the WHDI stick is available outside of Japan, because this is exactly what I have been looking for to play my downloaded movies on my HDTV.
