Will the New Tablets Bring About the End of Laptops?

Apple’s iPad has been all the rage selling over 2 million already and predictions that sales will reach the 5 to 7 million mark by the end of the year.

The Dell Streak will provide the things that iPad doesn’t like immediate support for voice calling, and eventually video chat, an easy to access battery, upgradable memory and best of all supports adobe flash, which apple refuses to support.

What does the streak provide?

  •  A 5 inch color multitouch screen
  • Android 2.1 platform
  • 1GHz Qualcomm snapdragon processor
  • 3GB memory
  • 5 MP camera with flash
  • User accessible battery
  • Micro SD memory expandable to 32 GB
  • Integrated Google maps, integration of twitter, facebook and utube social media
  • Android market apps
  • Support for email, texting, IM and voice calls
  • Web browsing in page format
  • Flash 10.1

If that isn’t enough to give both the iPad, most laptops and even some smart phone a run for their money, the baby can also have a docking station with USB, HDMI and line-out outputs.

Conclusion

Rather than replacing laptops like Apple’s CEO Steven Jobs predicted at Walt Mossberg’s All Things Digital conference this little gadget seems like a great companion the both my laptop and my desktop.

I predict this tablet is more likely to replace my smart phone than my laptop. Now will someone please write the necessary USB drivers so I can sync this little beauty with my PC just like I currently can sysnc my android phone.
